Brymin likes to be in the front. I would take advantage of the great support characters the Dev army offers to keep her alive once she gets there, and leave the high-level cavalry stuff to Kaiten, who does it better.

Let's take a look-see.

You might want Alexa Genecourt for your starting lineup. Defend!

-1 lord aurelius rellion -1, +1 Beast Knight

-2 master amandale +2 Ghed Nuri
-3 temur+1 Ghed Nuri, +1 Dahlia Genecourt, +1 Magellan
ghed lionel x1
the sable knight x1
mother daiane x1

Since Brymin is going up front, her support characters need to deliver the goods from wherever they are on the board and not be waiting to get up front with her. Headrix is the exception, since she can basically jump into action from any rank.

Since it's all going on Brymin, you don't really need much here. Just make sure you're not overlapping traits (hence the reduction to 1x each on Bruntor's and Scale Mail in light of the inclusion of Iridescent) and you're good to go.

Sacrifice has tech uses. Slide a wound to the back ranks (onto Mother D for example) and STILL react with Dahlia, just don't take heat on Brymin to activate her. Ryan Mornington trying to ruin your start? Sac a different Initiate and set up the crit-fail on the one. Great Cleave is NOT something you want to draw turn 1, so cut that down to 2. Threw in Sudden Reversal to give you different movement options.

Sure, you might only need to swap out 1. That way you keep some offense in rank 2.

Layamon + Alexa = bad
Squire Fendric + Alexa = better (get 2 offensive strikes while retaining a defensive character)

Post Re: my brymin
If I were going to play Brymin for a tournament, I would go the Tegus Herders route. That will land her in the front quickly. I'll just throw something together. For the start, I would consider:

1x Brymin of the Marches (Warlord)
1x Alexa Genecourt (Defend Caleb or Brymin)
1x Caleb the Shifter (Shift a strike off of Brymin or Tegus)
1x Tegus Herders (Give Brymin riding as your first action)
1x Rellion Pikeman (Nice stat dude)
1x Inquisitor Chroneus (Secure intiative to use Tegus, if you lose, redirect strike with Caleb)

... at this point tell them your friend gave you this deck and said it has "something to do with the Highlander movie" (bait your opponent)

Pure defense:
3x Ghed Nuri - Don't forget to put him into play between Brymin and Alexa so Alexa can use his react when Ghed gets targeted.
2x Alexa Genecourt
3x Sir Treguard
3x Xaros the Mist

Just a bunch of redirection. Don't let Brymin die! The level 2's can equip War Horse and Gilded Chariot and play Sudden Reversal.

Actions (pure offense):
3x Bloodthirsty - react speed strike
3x Outmatched - react speed strike
3x Thrust - ditch extra steeds to swing.
3x Sudden Reversal - 3 of the eleven movement cards - your little guys can use it.
3x Great Cleave - Planar meta and much needed multi-wounding.
3x Obliterate - Best frontline fighter action in 4E, maybe Warlord.
3x Bear's Soul
1x One with the Blade

Catch people off guard with the ton of reacts and order speed strikes. They play a character, strike, they equip an item, strike, they play an action, strike. Should be enough to keep the pressure up. If you didn't get an Obliterate first turn, search for one.

Items (pure movement +Axe):
2x The Dark Horse
2x Gilded Chariot
2x War Horse
2x Griffon of Misear
2x Axe of Fury

Axe of Fury is going to be her best weapon for the PA and the ability to get AC. Typically you'll get 3 or so AC and ATK from it. Nice! Sir Robert's Presence would be decent for Brymin also.

This deck would be a glass cannon, but at least it would put Brymin in the role she was made for. It uses both of her abilities well. She has several things hurting her: 1) has to be in the front to use her ability 2) has terrible stats 3) has to run characters to use her other ability. But those things aside, I would recommend this over an army deck because she is not much for supporting and I could see setting her in the front with people on either side, but I just don't think you'd be able to do enough damage once you're there. There could be a build version possible since her meat could redirect any strikes that would potentially kill her to themselves. Hmm.. Anyway, there's some of my thoughts. I hope you have fun in the tournament!

I agree with Woodrow. You'll want to be a little heavy on the actions so you can take advantage of her react. His build looks pretty solid and is probably the route I would go if told I had to play Brymin.

Massacre seems like it could earn a spot in there as well. I might also consider Double-Bladed Sword just for additional swings.

Because there is no rule that says you HAVE to run 25 characters...it's just that most decks usually do. Woodrow is right, action-heavy will work her react better.

I originally had massacre instead of whirling blades but the bonus is so low. It would be better for taking out starters for sure while blades whoops up on the stunned meat. I agree that since its a first turn deck massacre goes in over blades. Sticking by axe of fury though.

If you build that deck use tegus herders on brymin first action, then swing with pikemen then go forward with a steed twice then blow them up with strikes.

It's good, but if you're going to play it in a tournament you'll need to test it and see what's working best for you based on the decks that you'll likely be up against. When folks offer suggestions they're doing so on an objective basis and generally only speaking in terms of what's good. It's up to you to decide what's best.
