3. Calvary

Card Pool
Common Starts:
● 3 Genecourt Initiate, 1 caleb the shifter, 1 alexa genecourt

The joy of this deck is any level 3 deverenian can do wonders for you. Some that should see more play than others include:
Ancestral Wraiths
Green Hag
Corinne drac
Sable Knight

3 Different styles call for different cards
● Blitz: incinerate, Lightning bolt, Conjure Storm
● Calvery: Phantom Steed Thrice-fel horrors

I hope you enjoy

Don't forget the durability of Okull the Defiant.

Plus the +2 AC is usually extra sexy on the Planar meatwalls.

Comedy Gold, against another Deverenian, or selected Multifaction character:

Hallucination + Bonus, then release the Order Spell Bombs (incinerate, icy surge, viper whip, etc)

I would say no to the Green hag next to "the vessel" situation, because kestrel is not adjacent to the green hag, per the Green Hag's trigger. but I will reserve the right to be dead wrong.

You are correct, Rich.

The only thing Kestrel can do with his order is pretend to be in a different location for the purpose of choosing the targets of his spells.
He is not really there (i.e. thrice-fell does not come into play anywhere but adjacent to him), he does not trigger reacts (green hag), he cannot react in place of the target (PW: Kill), and he is not affected by effects on his target (Lady of Pain penalties).

Cavalry will work as it always has, with the benefit of actually strengthening the bonus he grants to his surrogate.
Illusionist tricks are even better now because stuff like Illusory Form can be cast from afar (which was always a desire of the old decks - to stay out of range).
Spell blitz is similarly empowered - so much easier to acquire range on enemy targets with very little risk. I'd be tempted to run 20+ spells in this deck, with the only items being stuff like Cloak of the Leech and Ring of Spell Storing.

Cheers.

Built my 1.0 version of the deck last night - focused on 2hp level 3's.

discovered that Phantom Steed is super double gold. Since your proxy might just be within one rank of the opposing big beater. all the joys of phantom steeding the other guy back without the danger of being in the front rank.

first test drive tonight. I fear that I went overboard with spend order spells, and not 100% sure that Bataar is everything I want in there. That is why it is 1.0 - next version may need to add in some scribe and some big effect spells (Tsunami, Crevasse)

hence why it is a staple in all my versions of him. it completely shuts down some of the biggest decks right now.

when it comes to the spend orders i found that i was that way too. i found that the combo cards (incinerate, icy surge, etc) are and should still be staples. in fact they are even more potent as your potshots come from a rank farther.

oh and rich, seeing as you are a fan of odd strategies, i made a version of the deck focused on getting nu'man il maliq or guillaume rellion with a shadow token into their ranks with kestrels buff for some sweet sweet rank manipulation via phantom steed or lordly might

needless to say, i doubt ill be playing anything but him from now on

1.0 nearly successful against open King Xod (two Atones in one turn + Door to the world shut down my offense)

I think this is a great choice for Kestrel's Buff, since he has the cancellation to keep himself around longer. He's also a caster in his own right, and gets more powerful as the game goes on.

He's proven to be awesome out of Kestrel. He, Maria, and the wraiths are great to buff up due to them being harder to kill then most devs. Also should something happen to Kestrel he and the Knight can cast a good amount of the spells in the deck.

Also. Icy Surge + Knight of Falun = his react possibly going off before he swings!

Kestrel the Deceiver should run more control and illusionist stuff.

Genecourt Initiate x3
Caleb-Alexa
Kestrel the Deceiver

Characters:19
Corinne Drac x3
Okull the Defiant x3
Mariah Blackthorne x2
Ancestral Wraiths x3
Knight of Falun x3
Xaros the Mist x3
Iphigeniax1
The Sable Knight x1

Actions:19
Lordly Might x2
Confoundx3
Viper Whip x2
Incineratex2
Icy Surge x2
Hallucinationx2
Teleportx3
Phantom Steed x3

Items:6
Cloak of the Leech x2
Ring of Vorn x1
Necklace of Spell Storing x2
Smoke Imp x1

There are plenty of other cards that I considered but I felt that this was the way to go. 7 cards that move my higher level characters up faster to use his order. Then shoot with all the order spells. While Cloak of the Leech, Necklace, and Smoke Imp either increase the DC or ranged strike, or scribe it back. I also play 8 illusionists other than Kestrel to spend for Confound. I think another way to make him isHarness the Storm, but im not sure how many wizards the Devs have for that to be somewhat lethal.
