Post Warlord RPG erratta
For some unknown reason I have volunteered to compile errata for the Warlord RPG product. Once compiled it will likely be put up at House Aedroud and on AEG's site.
Once people get there books, if you would be so kind as to post glitches to this thread.

Of chief importance is correcting Mechanical errors, the kind of things that are either just plain wrong or really shouldn't happen.

Not sure if we are going to produce errata for word use and grammatical errors, as many players can figure that kind of thing out.

thanks,

Hopefully there won't be too many mechanical errors but I will make sure I go through it again. I think the editing team did a fairly good job of what they were supposed to.

I can host a word document on the site for download so it can be printed easily when you are finished Kerebrus.

At least your name is in the credits. ;) (you won't find my name in those books)

Ken is doing quite a bit to rectify that situation, and I know he's mentioned a huge webpage solely for those who worked on the project.

From what I've heard, David and I are both missing from where we should be.

Alternately, I am listed in all four books, despite only really working on two of them. (I talked to people working on the other two and gave them input, but not so much that I deserve a credit.)

David and Nick are both missing as doing edits. Although I'm not sure they were going to get credit for that or not.

With the exception of RBD, our entire playtest group for the RPG is missing.

AEG says they're going to post a correction somewhere. :)

Which I guess that means I should not look for my name in them either. :(

Ah well, no big. I'll just be glad when I have them in my hands. Ariona stores don't believe in any form of fast shipping. Most are not expecting the books till next monday.

A minorly important one.

Human Wizard - Moderate power - Spontaneous casting

'From now on, a human wizard can spontaneously cast any spell of 1st through 3rd level from this particular school. To do so, he must 'lose' a prepared spell of equal or lower level."

Emphasis mine. That should be higher, otherwise I could sac a 1st level spell to get a 3rd. ;)

Well I don't have the book in front of me right now, so I'm going from memory. The Barbarian has an ability called Warcry or something that has a fixed DC. Fixed DC's are not a part of the D20 system outside of skill checks.

The base formula for any ability is: DC=10 + 1/2 Character Level + Ability Score Modifier. Or, in the case of Prestige Classes, DC=10 + Class Level + Ability Score Modifier (with rare exceptions).

The reason for this is so that a level 10 character is not producing the same DC as a 20th level character using the same ability. If they don't scale with the characters level, they become useless.

Now, the Barbarians Warcry ability is high level (maybe even level 20, can't remember) so maybe they were thinking "who cares". But it is still odd to see a fixed DC, and if you take your character into epic levels, that level 20 ability will quickly turn into utter crap without scaling.

I was also a bit alarmed by the Assassin's ability to deal Ability Damage so easily. I need to try it out, but it seems way imbalanced. If it was an Ability penalty, then that would be fine, since penalties don't stack, but damage does. I can see an Assassin with a decent Int mod dropping a Dragon in one round dealing Dex damage to it. Ability damage has to be carefully monitored in the ease of its application, which is why its not very prevailant in regular D&D (with the exception of that ridiculous overpowered spell from Frostburn, which no sane DM would allow in his game).

Already on my list. It was me telling the AEG guys this after having my books for one day that counted as taking a step forward for compiling errata.
