Post Re: Purple People Eaters
So far I've pulled out wins against Keziah, Morghen and Zultan. Here's the current list:

Starting 6:
Shulgi, Shulgi, The Devoted
Wailing Scrambler x2
Galam-Reth

Characters:
The Seed x3
Pagophoros x3
Dala x3
Darkspawn x3
The Devoted x2
Bal-Benoth x2
Getraxos x1
Yil-Grayl x1

Items:
War Horse x3
Griffon of Misear x3
Bruntor's Helm x3
Scale Mail x2
Frostscale x2
Celestial Flame x2
Axe of Tergoth x1
The King's Lady x1

Actions:
Sudden Reversal x3
Bull Rush x2
Blood for Blood x2
Coordinated Assault x2

The King's Lady is mainly in there for [Censor: poo] and giggles. Getraxos, believe it or not, comes out about half the time. It's Bal-Benoth that usually gets tossed into the discard pile for bonuses.

a new change i just made to the deck sped it up like crazy. i took out 2x sudden reversal for 1x close ranks (bringing me to three), and 1x coordinated assault. im going to take out the third sudden reversal for an uthanak's ring. i like sudden reversal and all, but my play area has suddenly become VERY range strike happy, and i have to plan accordingly. and i love the ability to speed my daemons to the front with galam's order followed by a close ranks. oh and Pago loves himself close ranks as well

@Oremm-
How come no Tam in your list? He's ridiculous good in Galam since he can sac himself with either order and either move or strike, depending on which order you performed.

@Atlantis-
I agree with Close Ranks. IMO it's an auto 3x for Galam.

For what it is worth, Galem Reth took out Drasek the Furious last weekend. Crazy first turn Getraxos on a Dark horse, second turn Stubborn to cancel the move back followed by a bullrush right to Drasek's Grill.

Galem Reth can produce a solid deck.

I'm trying to hang in there, but, Naram is so one dimensional it's often painful to play him. Unless I start seeing something that will allow Naram to use his charges for something other than "going big," I'm just not as much of a fan of him as I originally was.

It's my bad. When I first saw him, I filled my head with all these ideas of what design could do with him, instead of being realistic about what he actually is. In general, I think The Chosen are flawed, but, not much can really be done about it unless there is a revamp of the faction.

Despite all that, he's still my fav, but, Galam is closing.

Post Re: Purple People Eaters
alright, after one tournament, i decided to make one change to the deck. i am taking out Sin Marduk for The Raging Hungerer. here is how the tournament went:

we had 5 people in the tournament, so there was a bye. through random die rolling, i managed to get the bye. so a first round "victory" for me.

second round i went up against a scyrax deck that has been firing on all cylinders prior to the tournament. i was expecting a good match with a lot of wound being thrown around. first game Galam won first turn to a scyrax drawing no characters, and nothing but movement. and myself drawing The Seed, Duanna, and Bal benoth. game two was more of a game, as galam and scyrax decided to both draw fairly well. turn one it looked a little dismal for galam, but at the end of turn three i had total control with an Assa, Pago, and Bal all in the front, and bal had a Dragon's Buckler on. i won initiative, and dropped a Coordinated Assault and completely decimated Scyrax's ranks to the point of no return.

round three i thought was money in the bank, i had this match. i was up against a Mad Mel stealth deck. game one i mercilessly destroyed his army and mad mel had no chance. game two, Galam decided he wanted to do it all by himself, cause i couldnt draw characters to save my life. in three turns, the only character i drew was The Seed. i lost with no character support what-so-ever. game three Galam decided he wanted to give that another try, and drew all items and one Stubborn. time was called when i finally drew 5 characters. i could have had Galam in the third rank again, with steady ranks. but since time was called, we had to dice off. anyone that knows me, knows that i am a TERRIBLE die roller, and i lost the roll.

so, with that one loss, and because of the first round bye, i dropped to third place. whats a guy to do. overall the deck performed fairly well. i am satisfied with how it performed, even when drawing no characters, i can still do alright. i look forward to many more battles with this deck.

With The Devoted in the start, I've found Outmatched to be incredibly useful. I can often put the blitzy FreeK/Throg starts into power-I on turn 1 thanks to that little card. One game I played today I even managed to stun Zul'tan to the front thanks to 3x Outmatched in the opening hand. :war:
