Post The Unbeatable Ship?
Any player can pick this up and throw skill, dice, balance, and fun right out the window.

For a stupid Johnny Combo deck, it's got brutal consistency.

Simply put, you stun the Boat to the front with 1-3 scribed spells 1st turn, and drop your daemons on turn 2.

I'm interested in ideas to make it better, AND ideas to beat it.

Antimeta cards like Entomb, Easy Target, & D-Rift can stop it. But unless you're running Menhitiri, those aren't very popular topdeck cards.

The current version is:

1 Atiratu
3 Mitrasz
2 The Plentiful

3 Redu Carr
1 Oloidynatos
3 Ygrassyne
1 Bem Kuandodo
2 Master Ashtaroth
3 Getraxos
1 Raging Hungerer
3 Shan-Kassyn
1 Utnapishtim
1 Sin-Marduk

3 I Call Forth Valor
3 Blood Price
3 Meet At The Inn
2 False god's Council
1 Purify
3 Counterspell
2 Tether

1 Eternity Gate
3 Limited Wish
1 Backbiter
3 Living Statue

Test it against B'alam Nak. If he wins init he can take out both of The Earth's in one action, leaving your WL spent in rank 2 where B'alam can easily move up and finish her. Yvaalis is another one that I think will give her trouble, same with Logan Ebonwoulfe as all three now have Lucky Shot on their side.

Thanks. I'll test against range strike blitz tonight. :check:
The Earth aren't neccessary. I keep going back n' forth between them and the Plentiful. Maybe one of each.
Phantom steed is mostly a dead card too. It's helpful if things go bad, but it could be useful as confound.

Sniper Warlords could definitely present a problem for her.

Another reason why From Dust to Dust is such a good card..Lol
Keziah Firehair is probably fast enough considering all her alt starts and to deal with...anything.

Good news! Blitz works!... well, sort of.
x3 Squire Arrigan in front of x2 Layamon in a Yavlo blitz deck is the only thing I've found to break ranks effectively (over 50% of the time).

The Balam thing rarely worked. The +2's are too small to be consistent.
All of the rogue range strikers needed to run 9-11 movement cards to be consistent. Sure, a great hand aimed at the 2nd rank will do it, but way too often I kept drawing one of my x10 level 4 or lower characters to stabilize.

Yvaalis sniper got a kill with movement, volley, & lucky shot. Cool.

Verdict- Unbeatable? I guess not, but pretty freakin unbalanced. This OL has more defense that the DL Sin Marduk.

Forced March rule, I miss you.

Forced March rule never stopped Orm-drop from being a serious consideration either.

Orm didn't need to be in the front rank to be active.
Orm drop also generated its own movement.

(I miss the forced march rule too)

I know, right!?

It's funny even against defensive build or rancher decks. The little 2hp mitrasz who can't attack... ...can just spend back to guarantee a boat in the front.

I wonder if Paymaster Corr should go in too? He's instant rank stability/building/ versatility.

Mitrasz was the piece that Atiratu was waiting for since the beginning. A stable front rank is a HUGE deal for the Chosen. It's about time Team Purple was competitive - but dominating via the OL is a bit much, especially when there are so few of them out there at the moment.

I do not miss the forced march rule. I would rather make it where stunned guys cannot fall forward.

I hear ya, and Atiratu's a great deck even without the OL!
I've died plenty of times to a mean Getraxos equipped with a King's Lady phantom'd to the front.

I saw a Nin-Gula deck made top 8 somewhere recently...

It's too bad Naram insta-dies to Menhitiri. He was fun.

How does she insta kill naram? Also, someone please explain to me why this deck is so good, I guess I don't see it. Maybe I just need to build it...

Current Menhitiri's will be running Entomb. Entomb completely wrecks Naram.
Naram's order is OPT.

Build the Ship deck and see...
To beat it, you have to build a deck SPECIFICALLY designed to take out its weaknesses.

Atiratu can drop the boat in the front rank 1st turn with ridiculous consistency.
If you're unable to put 5 wounds late turn on 18AC, you're in serious trouble.

2nd turn, first action, he'll start dropping Getraxos, Raging Hungerer, & Shan-Kassyn in the front rank. His current version even includes Counterspell to stop spellblitz and Backbiter to ensure a 2nd turn domination.

Post Re: The Unbeatable Ship?
Updated.

A few tweaks. Master Ash isn't as crucial with the absence of thralls. Since the deck can drop the Ship so easily, we're going the Sin Marduk route.

Basically, you drop the ship, but keep your ranks (stunned daemons won't do any good anyway), then you can wait for sin to show up and drop him too.

We've increased first turn stability more with x3 Counterspell, x2 Plentiful, and x2 Confound. This way, wizzy blitz won't get through.

Most of the time you'll draw up ways to fetch levels 4, 5, and 6 without using Atiratu's ability. Then you kill your 2nd rank, fall forward, and drop the boat.

We're seriously considering a third statue to save the daemons in your hand to drop next to the boat on turn 2.
