Post Front Line Naram-Sin Deck (Open)
Hello all,

I usually don't play The Chosen. This will be my 2nd The Chosen deck I've made. My strategy with Naram-Sin is to get him to the front rank after turning him into a fighter. I'm using Charisma bonus items in combination with Imperial Scepter to boast my attack. This is in addition to the Fiendish Plate and Maul of Justice bonuses. I'll use Bandage to heal my ranks until I get Naram to the front rank. I have 24 character cards and the rest are items and actions.

I also thought of using Putrescence and Heart of the Warrior but I don't have room of them.

Thoughts? Will it work?

Starting Army:
1x Naram-Sin
2x Shonta
3x Redu Zayd

Army:
1x R'Veeka
2x Mistress Dagani
2x Mistress Sanai
2x Redu Firam
2x Redu Carr
3x Redu Tam
3x The Harvest
3x Amends

Actions:
3x Aegis
3x Embolden
3x Bandage
2x Divine Guidance

Items:
3x Maul of Justice
3x Imperial Chariot
3x Fiendish Plate
3x Imperial Scepter
1x Fields of Sorrow
1x Bruntor's Helm
1x Blessed Bangle
1x Havat-Lahn Stance

Transference looks like a good card but I don't think there is anything I want to take out for it.

well, I am not sure you need to stick with 4e items or actions, at least. look in the spoiler and find some that might be a bit more advantageous.

Combine that and The Earth.

Kill the Earth with Altar to get back your Zeyds. Then Transference. If all your Zeyds die again (or you kill them), then you're at 8 charges without even killing a thrall yet.

I'm sure Carter will chime in with something here. This seems like an idea where he'd be in charge.

My first thought is that you don't have any open cards. Where's the Toren? The War Mace, etc? Although I've been told he runs much better without any fighter items. If you could figure out a way to get a bunch of charges on the first turn, then you'd be fine to include them.

Personally, I think it'd be cool if you ran a bunch of cards that went off of charges:

Locked Ring
War Mace
Fiendish Plate
Isadran Amulet - Not sure that is the best, just throwing it out there.
Bag of Treasures - Probably something awesome hidden here. Could be equipped by one of your back-liners.

Post Re: Front Line Naram-Sin Deck (Open)
Thanks for the replies.

I've got so many decks. Many of my Open cards are in other decks. I don't play in tournaments so it really doesn't matter what cards I play. I thought it would be fun to try some 4th Edition cards but I'm not limited to just them.

Well looking at Charge type cards for Cleric this is what I found that seemed viable:

Black Dawn - Only down side is that it's a Spend Order and I want to try to stay away from them since I'll be busy with melee attacks.
Healer's Pact - Should work well with a combo with Black Dawn.
Isharan Staff - Good cleric weapon that uses charges.
The Storm - Would be a fun card but I think I want to stay away from level 8 items since I'll be in rank 1.

Here are some other fighter cards with Charges on them:

Death's Bargain - Another type of armor to look at - Fiendish Plate seems better but Death's Bargain is easier to equip.
Golden Warhammer - Another fighter weapon but War Mace is better

There's a dwarf to add charges to you only -> Militia
And there's Kabyrr the Insane (which has errata to move only one charge per turn, but still).

sometimes folks will not cooperate.

Fires of Fate + dead Lennox

Stolen Destiny + Thralls is good. add Ygrassyne so you can kill them with the Thrall trait.

and Signon's armor is the armor to run with Earth Mephit as the familiar

1 Naram Sin
1 The Earth
1 Altar
3 Redu Zeyd
3 Kabyrr the Insane
3 The Harvest
3 Dala
3 Mistress Sanai
3 Amends
2 Ivaas
1 Toren Yscar

3 Soul Charge
3 Transference
3 Soothing Waters
3 Divine Guidance
2 Draw the Essence
2 Chosen

3 Camel
2 Niobe's Leaf
2 Earth Mephit
2 Signon's Armor
1 Ring of Piercing

Soul Charge will only put charges on something with the CHARGES trait, so the targets are rather limited.

you do not have a weapon for your warlord. Niobe's Leaf is amazing

and I would look for a way to fit in mass blessing.

never enough deck space. that is one of the reason I run so many highlander decks; the nexus of ADD and indecision.

Ishadra's is for Naram and/or anybody else.

Master Nax does nothing. Firam is interesting, but I don't see how you're moving him forward. Consider this: It will take you a total of 4 turns before you can attack with Firam or Nax. First you play one. Then spend him forward. Next turn spend him forward. Next turn spend him forward. Next turn you get to attack with 2 strikes. If you want to speed up the process, use Sanai on one, but is that who you really want to target?

Toren and Ivaas just seem like the right play to get you what you need. They also discard whatever you have extra of in favor of fetching something better. Ivaas in particular can save you from a bad second hand and the two combined with Dala make Chosen a choice inclusion.

Embolden = Mass Blessing. Aegis doesn't really do much except protect your Amends. I'd do Soothing Waters or Sacrifice so you can protect Naram and send wounds to your Zayds. I'd probably do Sacrifice over Waters because Waters is prone to having your WL spend to Exhaustion or Ghost Bog. If all your Zayd's are totally gone, then just send it to one of your other characters. Not using Draw the Essence seems like a bad idea. It's an extra strike (which when you're readying and/or attacking 3x a turn is 3 extra strikes) and wound removal. It's almost as important to a front line cleric as Obliterate is to a front line fighter.

Based on other peoples' Naram advice, I'd ditch the fighter items all together because sometimes you will just have to settle for hulking turn 2 or even later and drawing them turn 1 is going to make you cry. Fields of Sorrow at best is killing Dala twice a turn, which doesn't sound very great to me. If you want a weapon very badly for Naram, go with Niobe's Leaf like Rich said, but I don't think he absolutely needs one. Chosen is all you should want for multiwounding with your dual-alignment cast. If you don't want to be moved back, go with Earth Mephit instead of Fiendish Plate. As said, Signon's Armor is your armor of choice. Seriously. No ranged strikes. There's a lot of decks that run ranged strikes without any answer to that card and even if they have one, they still have to draw it.
