Post Deck Challenge: If Jautya Were Legal (NO MORE EDITS ALLOWED)
NO MORE EDITS ALLOWED!!! If your submission is edited after 11:59 P.M. February 27, your submission will be void. I'm not taking screen shots. When I go to copy decklists into individual threads for voting I will check the timestamp of the last edit. If it is after 11:59 P.M. February 27, it will be considered void. Thank you.

The main reason that I banned Jautya Syne from the Ancients format in its original iteration was because he was deemed just too much of a "wild card" to be included in a format that was designed to help balance the game, and weed out absurd brokenness. That said, I always thought it would be really fun to see what people would have done with him, were he legal in the format.

So, that said, post your best Jautya Syne Ancients ideas, here. After a time, we'll take a vote on what people feel is the best deck.

Now, before people start cracking braincells for this, let me lay out the ground rules for how the final competition will be judged:

The final competition will be judged based on different categories, the top 3 decks in each category will be given 3, 2, and 1 point, respectively.

The categories will be as follows:

1) Originality
2) Effectiveness
3) Mastery (how hard is this deck to play?) <-the most complicated deck is considered the best in this category
4) Metagame <- deck with the most "answers" to the general environment and specific situations wins this category
5) I made a funny! <- humor factor in the switch-out character

Infinite combo decks (regardless of complexity or plausibility, it just has to have the potential to exist) will be granted an automatic 5 points toward their total score.

How do you win this competition?

You win by building a Jautya Syne deck (but using all currently posted rules and restrictions for the Ancients format) that is original, effective, somewhat complicated to play, has answers to a decent variety of issues that might crop up in the metagame, and is funny, of course! :-P (and if you find an infinicombo, that's a big bonus ;-))

What do you win if your deck has the overall highest score of all decks submitted?

You win a Belt of Champions, and a Mint-Condition FOIL Jautya Syne mailed from me to you, because YOU'RE A CHAMPION!!!

Who will judge this competition?

EVERYONE! Once all decks have been submitted (I'm going to give 2 weeks from TODAY for discussion, and submission) separate threads will be created with polls for voting. Anyone can vote. :)

Yay! Have fun! :)

ADDENDUM TO RULES

ONLY ONE ENTRY PER PERSON

CARD TAGS ARE MANDATORY FOR ALL CARDS IN THE DECK REGARDLESS OF HOW COMMON OR WELL-KNOWN YOU THINK THEY ARE

Yes, it is! :)

Spread the word. I'd like to see more than just the usual 3 people who post in here join this competition!

I doubt I have the card knowledge to win this but I'll give it a try.

Nihil, I assume you're not competing? Cause winning your own contest would be kinda silly.

Ever consider just having a Jautya Syne Format?

Post Re: Deck Challenge: If Jautya Were Legal...
Just for the sake of entering here is a slightly modified version of my Open Format Peyton Syne Language deck from yore. (or is it yesteryear?)

1 Jautya Syne
2 Tyren Ruskin
3 Brine Fiend
3 Peyton Latham
3 Graham Heyward
2 Johan Halfblood
1 Archer Tower
2 Calenar
3 Josef Krieg
1 Toren Yscar
1 Tavon

3 Pilferer's Gloves
3 Gaudy Hat
3 Diversion
3 Portable Hole
1 Red Wyrm's Egg
1 Lezheer Gem
3 Gloves of Archery
1 Bracers of Archery
3 Farglass
2 Precision
3 Rapid Shot
2 Veiled Passing

Before even considering the cards in your opening hand Warlord Peyton Latham can maneuver and fire a +2 shot into the opposing 2nd rank and is a Marksmanship check away from being able to shoot a rank further at the opposing Warlord. Once you start heaping on items (particularly from the Cartwright set) and park a Calenar behind him he can turn into quite the machine gun.

What I always enjoyed about this deck was that, while it certainly has tricks aplenty and cards that work well with one another, it is not a "combo" deck per se and still requires you to turn cards sideways and roll dice in order to win.

Jautya Syne - Amoudasi's Inferno
Gallows Fiend
Tyren Ruskin
Trogid x3

Forge x2
Heresekx2
Conviction x2
Toren Yscar x1
Tyren Ruskin x1
Ghost Bog x3

Viper Whip x3
Fell Blow x3
Sigil of Bonding x2
Shatter x2
Foul Blight x3
Chosen x2
Misear Strike x3
Burning Hands x3

Rod of Resistance x1
Bloodstained Dagger x1
Black Journal x1
Staff of Secrets x1
Wand of Negation x1
Wards of Peril x1
Amulet of Waking x1
Medical Kit x1
Robe of the Wind x1
Glyph of Healing x1
Ring of Smiting x1

Fairly straightforward; walk the Inferno up, hopefully guided by the Trogids, and have him start swatting at the enemy. It takes time to eat through most decks, since he doesn't kill things particularly quickly, but he makes up for it by shoryukening anyone who tries to swing at him. Frontliners have to go punch for punch with him, and I can try to snipe support warlords and second rankers with Fell Blow and/or Viper Whip. The rest of the deck is random support cards and things to try to help keep him alive, since his counterpunches are still only +5s. This can partially be offset by Foul Blight if you're lucky.

I've used Infernos in General Lund, and Misear Strike is the ultimate in "...wtf" competitions.

Curious, by himself, is Peyton's shot a +2 or a +8?
