Post Legacy Format
FAR simpler than having 3 lists of restrictions, Legacy just has 1 list - bans. Everything else is fair game.

Banned cards:

A Prophecy Fulfilled
Adarymy
Amber Gargoyle
Apprentice Ramah
Ar'tek
Archer Tower
Behlial
Brother Averill
Brother Dominy
Children of Yscar
Darsan
Field of Bones
Gravity Flux
Havellin Tansiq
Heerman’s Epic
Helm of Undying
Improved Invisibility
Into the Tunnels
Jodin Drac
Kapix
King Xod
Kothkah
Lilah
Malrog’s Lair
Negotiated Surrender
Nightmaster Rress
Nodwick
Olivark the Quiet
Overwhelm
Phantasm
Paradigm Shift
Perfect Self
Phantasm
Ring of Blasting
Ring of Guile
Ring of Mending
Ring of Piercing
Rouse
Rreg'jen
Sakarian Manticore
Saunginel
Shadan Adler
Supply
Sword of Chaos
Toren Yscar
The Restless
Vorpal Blade
Yscar the Elder

I don't understand why some of these warlords would be banned, and others wouldn't...

Most of them are banned for having a 6-card hand (Adarymy, Xod, and the like always have a 6th card of the player's choice) and Jodin Drac is out for being level 6.

I did not create the format, but I agree. Seems like Serolia Calix should be out also as her draw/hunt potential is HUGE.

I guess I can understand that someone would think like that, It just seems to me there are much better reasons to ban other warlords than a 6th card, especially with all of the draw tech in ancients/legacy...if you start banning all of the draw stuff it becomes a whole other game to be messed with...outright banning the questionable cards from ancients I can understand wanting to do, but other than that it seems a little too intrusive. Especially since Saunginel and Jodin Drac are not at the top of the power curve for their deck types in really any way...

Agreed. If I were defining a format, I would start with the infinite combos, then the cards that are so useful they go into every deck no matter what its purpose (looking at you, Daedelia). I doubt I would touch much else. In any case, this is the format that we're playing currently in the northeast, and what I've been deckbuilding for lately. Right now I have 7 decks and I'm pretty happy with how 6 of them work. The 7th was just hacked together last night.

Deckbox:

Adonis Cavalry/MLG
Lady of Mercy Weenies
Laurena Kennet Pincushion
Sigrida Valora Uber (Basically a Xod deck w/ the WL swapped)
Black Tom Passing the Knives
Menhetiri ....she's just Menhetiri

and the sketchy:
Simon Abraxas BBYW/Spring Up

Seems good. What it does do a bit better than ancients is limit the sketch cards. You can make a lot of decks without those restricted cards that you don't consider as often simply because you're so used to playing them.

Or Yscar. Guess that Lycan Form is too strong. Not that Yscar is bad, by any means, just not going to be dominant... ever.

Just putting the final few cards together for a Highlander Etra in this format. There are just TOO MANY OSTRICHES.

When making this list the thought came to mind "if X warlord was legal, why would you play any other warlord of their faction/class?". If Xod was legal he would be the only Dwarf fighter being played. Same with Jodin since he's level 6. This is an attempt to get other warlords to see play in tournaments and what not. I didn't make the format, but a few people from my playgroup did. As far as the warlords on there the only ones I'm not huge on being there are Saunginel and Kothkah, mainly because I've never really played against Kothkah and Saunginel doesn't seem so bad since he can't draw cards other then Daedelia.

For this format I have a bunch of decks, and most, if not all, can be converted to Ancients if needed.

Rustiq Umbala Undead cav
Kevrosh Dathar Monster cav
Contal golden gun
Ophinuchus um....deck xD
Aquiela weenies, mostly from spells
Trench (currently terrible, working on it)
Rathra Dak
Nin-Gula cav
Baron Bastein uber
DerRist spell blitz
Fo'ttr'ak'ka throwing wounds all over my army
Albrecht chainsaw

I need a rogue in there...considering Goth'ak for that. Also working on an Angu Mournwater deck.

See, but this assumes shortsightedness. Not everyone singles out warlords the same way. For example, even in a format where Xod is legal, I never play him. The deck is slow, boring, and a bit of an NPE if you don't have meta for it. If I wanted to easily and quickly win games, I'd play Stonefist. Lots of strikes, plenty of stamina, and the ability to equip Sjonegard's Mace are all silly things. Similarly, I wouldn't always choose to play Jodin, that would get boring, and it's occasionally fun to exploit people like Edric or Baron.
I'm not saying it's a bad format or anything, I just don't really agree with banning those Warlords, or really any Warlords. I haven't encountered what I felt to be a good reason yet.

I have so much fun with my Cairbre Netheryn deck that it's ridiculous. I love not having dead cards, it's fairly consistent, and actually using cards like Treyik Netheryn and Beads of Iman in a deck is fun. The trick here is that you can play fun cards you don't usually play because they only work if you get them with certain other cards, if you get them early, etc.. You just discard them if you get them at the wrong time. If someones interested I can probably wrangle up a deck list...

If one of the people who came up with the list want to shed their light on the subject that would be great, but for now that's all I can really say on the subject. I can ask them the next time I run into them. I only remember one of their names on here though, and I know he doesn't use this site anymore. =/ Maybe if I talk to them about it they might take some, or maybe even all, of the warlords off the list. Personally, I hate going against some of the ones on the list. Xod and Adarymy in particular for me are anti-fun.

He's pretty awesome. I know someone in the playgroup here has a deck with him floating around, so I might run a similar deck to yours running The Lady of Pain. Still have a discard ability to get rid of meta cards I don't need at the moment and has a way to free wound. Always fun. Would love to check out what else you use with him.

Post Re: Legacy Format
1x Cairbre Netheryn
2x Magheline
3x Javvyn

3x Daedelia
3x Hassimal
3x Tybast
3x Severed of Bone
2x The Hugary Dead
2x Tyyphera
2x Treyik Netheryn
1x Salace

3x Alchemy Kit
3x Beads of Iman
3x Khadraiq
3x Zaina's Treachery
3x Knife After Dark
1x Midnight Poison
3x Misear Diplomacy
3x Altus' Cloak
3x Black Steel Daggers

The Actions/Items are a bit off. I usually put some other stuff in there that I can't remember off the top of my head right this second, so a few of those would actually be 2x instead of 3x.
